Hoods:
Associate/certificate – Burgon shape, black stuff, faced 1.5″ magenta silk, the cowl bound to show 0.25″ old gold silk inside and out.
Licentiate/senior certificate/diploma – Burgon shape, black stuff, faced 3″ magenta silk, the cowl bound to show 0.25″ old gold silk inside and out.
Bachelors
Gown: Cambridge B.A. shape, black stuff, without strings.
Hood: Burgon shape, black stuff, lined magenta silk, bound on all edges to show 0.25″ old gold silk inside and out.
Postgraduate awards
Gown: as for bachelors
Hoods: P.G.Cert. – Cambridge shape, black stuff, faced 1.5″ and the cape bound to show 0.25″ magenta silk, the cowl bound to show 0.25″ old gold silk inside and out.
P.G.Dip. – As above, but faced 3″ magenta silk.
Masters
Gown: Cambridge M.A. shape in black silk or stuff, without strings.
Hood: Cambridge shape, black silk, lined magenta silk, the cape and cowl bound 0.5″ old gold silk.
Doctors
Full-dress robe – Cambridge D.D. shape, scarlet cloth, with sleeve-linings and facings of magenta silk, with old gold cords and buttons on the sleeves.
Undress gown – Cambridge M.A. shape in black silk or stuff, without strings.
Hood – Durham doctors’ shape, scarlet cloth, lined magenta silk, the cape and cowl bound 0.5″ old gold silk.
Fellows of the University
Full-dress robe – Cambridge D.D. shape, Mary blue cloth, with sleeve-linings and facings of magenta silk, with 0.5″ old gold silk laid at the top of each facing, and old gold cords and buttons on the sleeves.
Undress gown – Cambridge M.A. shape in black silk or stuff, without strings, with the sleeves bound 0.5″ old gold silk and 0.5″ magenta silk laid inside the old gold.
Hood – Durham doctors’ shape, Mary blue cloth, lined magenta silk, the cape and cowl bound 0.5″ old gold silk and 0.5″ magenta silk laid inside the old gold.
Hats
All levels wear a black cloth trencher. Doctors in full dress may wear a scarlet velvet Tudor bonnet with a gold cord and tassel.
Notes:
1) The neckbands of all hoods are plain.
2) All gowns are to be made with curved yokes, after the style of the University of Oxford.
3) The magenta silk used is the same shade as that used for the Master of Theology degree in the University of Oxford.
4) Artificial silk may be substituted for silk; stuff may be Russell cord or polyester; cloth is always to be interpreted as wool.
B. Fellows of the Henderson Memorial School of Music of European-American University
Hood
Oxford doctors’ shape, deep green silk, lined magenta silk, the neckband plain.
Robe
Oxford doctors’ shape, deep green silk, the facings and sleeves covered with magenta silk, a magenta cord and magenta button on the yoke.
Undress gown
As for masters.
Hats
In full dress, a black velvet Tudor bonnet with a magenta cord and tassel; in undress a black cloth trencher.

Only the following grades of membership are entitled to academical dress:
Doctor Emeritus
